Building Committee Update
January 2007

Building Committee Update We begin 2007 with great expectations for beginning construction of our new ministry facilities. We are hopeful that 2007 will be the year when the hole for the basement under our new sanctuary will be dug, when the foundation will be poured, and our new worship space begins to take shape. Our church home will be changing, but our church life and ministry will continue. We are entering a major building project that will require all of us to make some adjustments to the comfortable Good Shepherd life we have enjoyed. With confidence and hope, our building project is moving forward.
January 2007 is a very busy month for the Building Committee. January 9: meeting to inform Good Shepherd’s neighbors about our building plans. January 14: new site plan and building elevations on display at Good Shepherd; information meetings at 11:15 am and 12:15 pm. January 16: regular Building Committee meeting. January 17: 1st review of our site plan by the City of Gaithersburg Planning Commission.
TCS has provided us with a pre-construction schedule that has construction beginning in June. Although this may be a little overly optimistic, a summer 2007 start date appears likely. We anticipate discussing construction documents with the congregation during February and March. There is great interest in the appearance of our new worship space. As first draft drawings become available, we will be seeking congregational input. Ernest Kessler, Building chair, bekessler@verizon.net.
