and the CAPITAL CAMPAIGN

Good Shepherd Lutheran Church is at an important and exciting time. An outpouring of generous giving in the days to come will not only enable us to strengthen our ministry and witness in Gaithersburg, but it will help support the 4.5 million dollar facility expansion that is well underway. Therefore, I ask you to take a prayerful look at your God-given financial resources and consider joining in this major team effort.

As we head toward Commitment Sunday on November 18^th, I am asking you the same thing we have asked of all Good Shepherd members namely, to consider making two commitments. The first commitment is a pledge for the 2008 Ministry Year Budget (yearly pledge) and the second commitment is a 3-Year Pledge (2008-2010) for our Building on Faith Capital Campaign. The goal of this 3-year Capital Campaign is to reach and exceed $1.5 million, which will help us begin to expand, renovate, and improve our facilities to strengthen our ministry.

I am thrilled to announce that as of Wednesday, November 7, 2007, we have received 40 advance “leadership gifts” to the Building on Faith Capital Campaign for a total of $627,810.00. That is a very strong witness from a small portion of our congregation and gives me great confidence that we are going to, not only reach but exceed, our 3-year goal of raising $1.5 million. Let’s join with these leaders who have provided us with a tremendous head start!

Enclosed in this packet: 1) A description of the 2008 Ministry Year Budget- As we build, you will see our emphasis continues to remain on the ongoing ministry. Your giving enables our current ministry and outreach to continue to prosper. 2) Two pledge cards: a 2008 Ministry Year Budget Pledge Card (“the ongoing fuel” for our ministry) and  b. Building on Faith Capital Campaign Pledge Card for 2008-10.  We hope to hear from you very soon.

Again, COMMITMENT SUNDAY IS ON NOVEMBER 18^th. Please bring your pledges to worship that day and join in this team effort. If you can’t be there on the 18^th, please mail in your pledge cards to the Church Office at 16420 S. Westland Drive, Gaithersburg, MD 20877 or bring them to worship on the following Sundays.
