Registration Procedure:

Good Shepherd Preschool offers priority enrollment to Good Shepherd Lutheran Church members (enrollment begins February 1), families with a child currently enrolled in Good Shepherd Preschool (February 16), and Good Shepherd alumni families (February 18).

COMMUNITY REGISTRATION

for the 2010-2011 school year will be held at
Good Shepherd Preschool on
Saturday, February 20, 2010
10:00am
.

All parents present at 10:00am on February 20, 2010 can participate in an enrollment lottery; students are registered based on numbers drawn during the lottery. A parent or legal guardian must be present for a child to be enrolled. Each class has a pre-determined number of gender-specific openings. There is no reason to arrive at Good Shepherd prior to 9:50am. Parents arriving after 10:00am will be registered after the lottery participants. Out-of-area registrations will be processed beginning on February 22, 2010.

At the time of registration, a $50 registration fee, a $15 activity fee, and one/ninth of the annual tuition payment must accompany the registration form. New students purchase a school tote bag for $5.

Registration, activity, and tote bag fees are non-refundable. The tuition payment is fully refundable through May 1, 2010 and non-refundable thereafter. There are no refunds after May 1, 2010.

Wait List:

Once a program is full, parents may place their child on a wait list by completing a registration form and leaving it at the Good Shepherd Preschool Office. No money is collected until a student actually enrolls. As openings occur, parents are advised of the possibility of enrollment.

Admission Policy:

Good Shepherd Preschool admits students of any race, religion, color, national and ethnic origin to all the rights and privileges, programs and activities generally accorded or made available to students at the school. It does not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, color, national and ethnic origin in administration of its educational policies, admissions policies, scholarship and loan programs, and athletic and other school-administered programs.

Scholarships and Fee Reductions:

Limited funds are available for partial scholarships for Early Pre-Kindergarten III or Pre-Kindergarten students. A scholarship application form is available upon request. There is no reduction in tuition for Good Shepherd Lutheran Church members or multiple siblings.

Toilet Training:

Toilet training is not required for entrance into Early Pre-Kindergarten I or Early Pre-Kindergarten II classes. For all other classes, students must be fully toilet trained and may not wear diapers or pull-ups. All students should be physically, cognitively, and emotionally ready to participate in a preschool program.

Visiting GSLP:

Good Shepherd’s staff encourages parents to visit while classes are in session. During a 20 minute visit, parents may observe a class which corresponds to their child’s projected placement for the upcoming year. In addition, parents may tour other classrooms to gain an understanding of the entire preschool experience.

Preschool age children may not accompany their parents during the classroom observation portion of the tour. Younger siblings (babies and young toddlers) are welcome to remain with their parents during the observation period. A maximum of two parents may observe a classroom at any one time.

To ensure that an age-appropriate classroom can be observed during the tour, parents should schedule their visit by contacting Good Shepherd at 301-963-1955 or gslp91@hotmail.com.
