Admission Policy:

Good Shepherd admits students of any race, religion, color, national and ethnic origin to all the rights and privileges, programs and activities generally accorded or made available to students at the school. It does not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, color, national and ethnic origin in administration of its educational policies, admissions policies, scholarship and loan programs, and athletic and other school-administered programs.

Registration Procedure:

Good Shepherd Lutheran Preschool offers priority enrollment to Good Shepherd Lutheran Church members (enrollment begins February 3), families with a child currently enrolled in the Preschool (February 19), and alumni families (February 21).

General registration

for the 2008-2009 school year will be held at

Good Shepherd Lutheran Preschool on

Saturday, February 23, 2008, at 10:00am.

All parents present at 10:00am on February 23, 2008 can participate in an enrollment lottery; students are registered based on numbers drawn during the lottery. A parent or legal guardian must be present for a child to be enrolled. Each class has a pre-determined number of gender-specific openings. There is no reason to arrive at the Preschool prior to 9:50am. Parents arriving after 10:00am will be registered after the lottery participants. Out-of-area registrations will be processed beginning on February 25, 2008.

At the time of registration a $50 registration fee, a $15 activity fee, and one/ninth of the annual tuition payment must accompany the registration form (one/half the tuition for enrollment in a Pre-Kindergarten Enrichment Class). New students must purchase a school tote bag for $5.

The registration, activity, and tote bag fees are non-refundable. The tuition payment is fully refundable through May 1, 2008 and non-refundable thereafter. There are no refunds after May 1, 2008.

Wait List:

Once a program is full, parents may place their child on a wait list by completing a registration form and leaving it at the Preschool. No money is collected until a student actually enrolls. As openings occur, parents are advised of the possibility of enrollment.

Scholarships and Fee Reductions:

There are limited funds available for partial and complete scholarships. A Scholarship Application Form is available upon request. There are no scholarships for the Two-Plus Classes, the Pre Kindergarten Plus Program (the five day class) or for the Pre-K Enrichment option. There is no reduction in tuition for Good Shepherd members or multiple siblings.

Toilet Training:

Toilet training is not required for entrance into the Two Plus Classes. Children entering all other classes must be fully toilet trained. Diapers and pull-ups are NOT allowed for children enrolled in three year old and pre-kindergarten classes. All students should be physically, cognitively, and emotionally ready to participate in a preschool program.

Visit GSLP:

Good Shepherd does not hold information sessions separate from the regular school day. The staff firmly believes that a preschool is best explored while in session. If you wish to visit the preschool, please contact the preschool at 301-963-1955 or gslp91@hotmail.com to schedule a visit. Please make outside child care arrangements for your preschool age child so that you can spend time in the classrooms.
