IN
TRIBUTE TO ESTHER GRONINGER
Director of Music Emeritus
and Director of Youth Bell and Chime Choirs
After decades of serving God and celebrating Him in music, Esther Groninger went home to Jesus. Her Good Shepherd Lutheran Church family will dearly miss her smile and her spirit. Our hearts and prayers go out to her husband George, her family and all who loved her.
To the church and community, Esther was our teacher, mentor, colleague, conductor, costar, costumer, soloist, planner, leader, helper and coach.
To those close to her, Esther was our friend, confidant, sister, cheerleader, sports fan, prayer partner and witness in faith, comrade, Mrs. G., generous support network, travel buddy, gentlewoman, lover of life, hostess and chef, as well as cohort in fun, song, nonsense and fellowship.
We thank God for sharing this kind, talented and inspiring person with us, and we rejoice in Esther’s journey home to be with His heavenly choir.
In her honor, we share an anthem offered at the worship service to celebrate her life. “Sing Me to Heaven” by Daniel E. Gawthrop is sung by the GSLC Chancel Choir and friends, and conducted by Director of Music Peter W. Schmidt. (Recorded July 19, 2008.)
With deep appreciation and love,
Music Ministry Team
