HEALTH MINISTRY SAYS "THANKS!"
Thanks to all who have donated to our toiletry item collection in the lobby. These items have been used to support many groups including local shelters, our soldiers in Iraq & Afghanistan, and most recently, the victims of Hurricane Katrina. You can continue to deposit your toiletry items (sample-sized items are great) in the designated drawer in the lobby.
We also would like to thank all the individuals that came out for the third annual blood drive in September. The blood products collected from a single unit of blood can go to help several individuals. We hope that you will continue to donate blood on a regular basis and will join us for our next drive in September 2006!
A special thank-you to perhaps one of the most talented honorary Health Ministry members. JANICE WAHLMANN has been faithful providing baked goods for our blood drives for the past 3 years. The donors always look forward to having one of Janice’s creations following their donation. Janice, thanks for your continued support of the blood drive!
Flu Shot Clinic is Coming to Good Shepherd
Mark
your calendars for Sunday, November 6, 2005. On that date,
registered nursing personnel will join us from MAXIM Healthcare to
administer influenza and pneumonia immunizations. The clinic will be held in
the church library from 9:30 until 11:30. Immunization costs are as follows:
$25.00 for flu & $35.00 for pneumonia. Medicare Part B will be filed with no
copay (when members present their cards). Some private insurance plans will
be filed as well. Additional information will be forthcoming and will be
posted on the Health Ministry bulletin board, in Sunday bulletins, and on
the church website. We hope that you will take advantage of this convenient
way to receive your flu shot. For more information on MAXIM, you can check
www.findaflushot.com.
Do You Have a Plan?
September was National Preparedness Month. Although the month has passed, it is important to formulate a plan that your family could follow in the event of an emergency There are two websites that can help you and your family prepare for an emergency in our area. Check www.makeaplan.org or call 1-866-788-PLAN. Additional information can also be obtained at the “Get Prepared” link on the American Red Cross website. Check the Health Ministry bulletin board located in the hallway across from the nametag display for further information.
