May 2004 - Springing Forward
The beginning of spring symbolizes many things for
all of us – new beginnings, cleaning and sorting, etc… Hopefully all of us
have used the time to “spring forward” (daylight savings time) to change the
batteries in our fire/smoke detectors at home. The Health Ministry
encourages you to take advantage of this time not only to update the safety
features of your home, but to also become familiar with the safety features of your church.
For
example, are you familiar with the locations of the fire extinguishers
throughout our building? Here is where you can find them:
At the
rear of the sanctuary Beside
the glass doors outside the Narthex (adjacent to the men’s room) On the
upper floor of the education wing (one adjacent to the double doors near
the nursery and one in the area of the classrooms) On the
lower floor of the education wing
We
also recommend that you familiarize yourself with exits throughout the
facility. While we are all familiar with the exits located off the Narthex,
did you know that there are also exits located to the rear of the fellowship
hall off the kitchen, and adjacent to the women’s restrooms located outside the nursery?
Finally,
are you aware that there are several first aid kits located throughout the
church? One is located in the kitchen, underneath the cabinets as you walk
through the door. A second kit is located in our nursery and is accessible
by nursery personnel, and a third kit is located in the church office. We
encourage you to contact an usher or office staff member if you require
items from the kits. The first aid kits are periodically checked by Health
Ministry Committee members to ensure the contents are appropriate and
up-to-date.
COMING IN JUNE: Breast cancer awareness
