Good Shepherd Lutheran Church Today's Frontline Devotion March 15, 2007 TRANSFORMATION |
A daily |
Frontline Devotion for Thursday, March 15, 2007 by Pastor Dave Sonnenberg
One of the things that is so cool about climbing to great heights or flying in an airplane or being up in a mountain is that you can see things from a different perspective.
Today, Jesus takes three of his closest followers up a mountain and gives them an eye opening experience. They witness Jesus transforming right in front of their eyes and recognize that “this is an important moment”. They see Jesus in a different way; in a way that had not seen before. In that moment, they hear the voice of God which included a very personal command “Listen to my son.”
Transformation is all about changing. Almost any time I use the term transformation, it is about something going from one state or condition to a much improved state! As I think about the daily discipline of devotions, in some way we begin each day with the hope and prayer - “Jesus, let us see something different about you today”. And make no mistake- I believe God yearns for each of us to have transformed ears so that we might be open to listening in different ways. Good listening results in positive actions- not just on the mountain top but in the hustle and bustle of daily life.
